It was born in 1958 thanks to the commitment of two prominent people from Valsesia, Graziella Conti Freschi and Antonio Cacciamani and it is one of the oldest groups in Italy.
A patient work of research has allowed to find clothes and accessories worn by the nobles from Borgosesia in the 17th century, musical scores and the choreography of some dances of the period between the 18th and the 19th century.
Thanks to the beauty of the costumes, the variety of the dances so different from each other, and the musical harmony, the group stands out among the others in both national and international sceneries.

Costumes

The costumes are a faithful copy of the original ones from the 17th century kept in the Museum of Folklore in Borgosesia.
Women wear a dress made of red silk damask with a white blouse, a lace pinafore, golden brocade pectorals and ornaments, and silver filigree buttons.
Their hairstyle is in silver filigree hairpins, ribbons and brocade patissa.
Their costumes are composed by red silk sunshades, shawls and golden and silver ancient jewels garnished with red garnets from today mined out Valsesian mines.
Men wear a red tunic with green sleeves or a green one with red sleeves and nut-brown knee-breeches.

Their costume is rich too, adorned with a lace scarf and cuffs and silver filigree buttons.
It is complete with a broad-brimmed felt hat, the typical umbrella-headgear from Valsesia.

The Show

The show is based on choreography and music typical of a historical period between the 16th and the 19th century , found over the years in many historical archives from Valsesia.
Today the group has about fifty members (dancers and orchestral musicians), who, thanks to their artistic background, steadfast commitment and deep devotion, keep on passing down the traditions of our valleys and bring our history and folk culture not only all over Italy and Europe but also throughout the world.
